I DID IT! :) This is me with several of my fellow Communication Arts graduates- Dorian, Jason and Cheryl. A longer post and more pictures will be coming later - right now I am working a lot, organizing stuff, and getting ready for a trip to Seattle next week. Yay! :)
I'm prefacing this by saying that yes, I set this post up and scheduled it, long ago, to post today. Since I did that, we were told we needed to find a new song for graduation, since this song was not upbeat enough at the beginning. I will post the new song once I know for certain what it is. . .but for now, enjoy this one, which we were supposed to walk out on. :)
Feeling Good Michael Buble'
Birds flying high You know how I feel Sun in the sky You know how I feel Reeds driftin' on by You know how I feel It's a new dawn It's a new day It's a new life For me And I'm feeling good
Fish in the sea You know how I feel River running free You know how I feel Blossom in the tree You know how I feel It's a new dawn It's a new day It's a new life For me And I'm feeling good
Dragonfly out in the sun you know what I mean, don't you know Butterflies all havin' fun you know what I mean Sleep in peace when the day is done, that's what I mean And this old world is a new world And a bold world For me Fooor me
Stars when you shine You know how I feel Scent of the pine You know how I feel Yeah freedom is mine And I know how I feel It's a new dawn It's a new day It's a new life It's a new dawn It's a new day It's a new life
It's a new dawn It's a new day It's a new life It's a new life For me
And I'm feeling good

There you go. . .the Graduation Soundtrack 2009! :-) Hope you enjoyed it!
Ever since I heard this song a couple of years ago, I've thought it was a great song and would be perfect at a graduation. Well, guess who gets to have this song played at her graduation (even though it is at the end when I will be out of the auditorium and won't get to hear it!)? Yep. . .me! :-) So, enjoy the next Graduation Soundtrack song, which is. . .
My Wish Rascal Flatts
I hope the days come easy and the moments pass slow, and each road leads you where you want to go, and if you're faced with a choice, and you have to choose, I hope you choose the one that means the most to you. and if one door opens to another door closed, I hope you keep on walkin' 'til you find the window, if it's cold outside, show the world the warmth of your smile, but more than anything, more than anything,
My wish, for you, is that this life becomes all that you want it to, your dreams stay big, your worries stay small, You never need to carry more than you can hold, and while you're out there getting where you're getting to, I hope you know somebody loves you, and wants the same things too, Yeah, this, is my wish.
I hope you never look back, but ya never forget, all the ones who love you, in the place you left, I hope you always forgive, and you never regret, and you help somebody every chance you get, Oh, you find God's grace, in every mistake, and always give more then you take.
But more than anything, Yeah, and more than anything,
My wish, for you, is that this life becomes all that you want it to, your dreams stay big, and your worries stay small, You never need to carry more than you can hold, and while you're out there getting where you're getting to, I hope you know somebody loves you, and wants the same things too, Yeah, this, is my wish.
My wish, for you, is that this life becomes all that you want it to, your dreams stay big, your worries stay small, You never need to carry more than you can hold, and while you're out there getting where you're getting to, I hope you know somebody loves you, and wants the same things too, Yeah, this, is my wish. this is my wish I hope you know somebody loves you may all your dreams stay big (Repeat) (Chorus)

What is #1? What song do we get to walk out to? Tune in to the Graduation Soundtrack next week!!!!
We're half-way through the Graduation Soundtrack 2009. I think the songs are kind of cool. :-) This next song is a newer song. . .in fact, it is sung by the winner of American Idol 2008, and while it was definitely fitting for a new American Idol winner, I think it is appropriate for a graduation song, as well. :-) The next song is. . .
Time of My Life David Cook
I’ve been waiting for my dreams To turn into something I could believe in And looking for that Magic rainbow On the horizon I couldn’t see it Until I let go Gave into love and watched all the bitterness burn Now I’m coming alive Body and soul And feelin’ my world start to turn
And I’ll taste every moment And live it out loud I know this is the time, This is the time To be more than a name Or a face in the crowd I know this is the time This is the time of my life Time of my life
Holding onto things that vanished Into the air Left me in pieces But now I’m rising from the ashes Finding my wings And all that I needed Was there all along Within my reach As close as the beat of my heart
and I’ll taste every moment And live it out loud I know this is the time, This is the time to be More than a name Or a face in the crowd I know this is the time This is the time of my life Time of my life
And I’m out on the edge of forever Ready to run I’m keeping my feet on the ground Arms open wide Face to the sun
I’ll taste every moment And live it out loud I know this is the time, This is the time to be More than a name Or a face in the crowd I know this is the time This is the time of my life Time of my life More than a name Or a face in the crowd This is the time This is the time of my life. This is the time of my life.

Welcome to the third installment in the Graduation Soundtrack 2009! :-) This week's song is (and I apologize for the video with videos of random people's kids. . .but YouTube videos of this song are hard to come by). . .
Somewhere over the rainbow Way up high And the dreams that you dreamed of Once in a lullaby Somewhere over the rainbow Blue birds fly And the dreams that you dreamed of Dreams really do come true Someday I'll wish upon a star Wake up where the clouds are far behind me Where trouble melts like lemon drops High above the chimney tops that's where you'll find me oh Somewhere over the rainbow bluebirds fly And the dream that you dare to, why, oh why can't I?
Well I see trees of green and Red roses too, I'll watch them bloom for me and you And I think to myself What a wonderful world
Well I see skies of blue and I see clouds of white And the brightness of day I like the dark and I think to myself What a wonderful world
The colors of the rainbow so pretty in the sky Are also on the faces of people passing by I see friends shaking hands Saying, "How do you do?" They're really saying, I... I love you I hear babies cry and I watch them grow, They'll learn much more Than we'll know And I think to myself What a wonderful world
Someday I'll wish upon a star, Wake up where the clouds are far behind me Where trouble melts like lemon drops High above the chimney top that's where you'll find me Oh, Somewhere over the rainbow way up high And the dream that you dare to, why, oh why can't I?

. . .and as always, stay tuned for more. Don't you wonder what song is going to be playing when the graduates (myself included!) leave the stage?!
It's really a surreal experience. I knew this time would come, but I can hardly believe that it is here, now. Well, in 3 weeks, that is.
Yes, that's right. 3-weeks from tomorrow I should be walking across the stage in the Schuler Auditorium on the North Idaho College campus, thereby becoming a graduate of Lewis-Clark State College. And yes, it's hard for me to believe.
There's still a lot left to do over the next few weeks. The list includes (but is not limited to). . . . . .Analyzing data for my research project (which analyzed the effects of advertising on online social networks such as Facebook and MySpace) . . .Putting together a PowerPoint for when I present my project at the LCSC-Cd'A Senior Symposium on April 30 . . .Interviewing one of my friends for 45-60 minutes to learn about her values for my Values: Wilderness class . . .Working on my portfolio/resume and making sure they are in tip-top shape . . .Random short papers and discussion postings for my online Values: Wilderness class . . .Random other things I have to wrap up
Yes, it's scary, but it's also exciting. 3-weeks from tomorrow should be an exciting day. . .and I can hardly wait! :)
Welcome to the next round of Graduation Soundtrack 2009! :-) The next song is a song by one of my current favorite artists, Carrie Underwood. The next song is. . .
Whenever You Remember Carrie Underwood When you look back on times we had I hope you smile And know that through the good and through the bad I was on your side when nobody could hold us down We claimed the brightest star And we, we came so far And no they won't forget
(Chorus) Whenever you remember times gone by Remember how we held our heads so high When all this world was there for us And we believe that we could touch the sky Whenever you remember, I'll be there Remember how we reached that dream together Whenever you remember
When you think back on all we've done I hope you're proud When you look back and see how far we've come It was our time to shine And nobody could hold us down They thought they'd see us fall But we, we stood so tall And no we won't forget
Whenever you remember times gone by Remember how we held our heads so high When all this world was there for us And we believe that we could touch the sky Whenever you remember, I'll be there Remember how we reached that dream together Whenever you remember
We claimed the brightest star And we, we came so far And know that we showed them all And no they won't forget
Whenever you remember times gone by Remember how we held our heads so high When all this world was there for us And we believe that we could touch the sky Whenever you remember, I'll be there Remember how we reached that dream together Whenever you remember
Whenever you remember
Ooohh, whenever you remember

One of the perks to being part of the student council at LCSC is the chance to pick what music is played after graduation. The music begins as soon as the graduates begin to leave the stage and continues while guests mingle in the auditorium after the ceremony. We picked six songs to play during this time and I thought it would be fun to share them with you in the weeks leading up to graduation.
I will start with the last song to play and work backwards through the list of songs. So, first up:
My! My! Time Flies Enya
My! My! Time flies! One step and we're on the moon, next step into the stars My! My! Time flies! Maybe we could be there soon, a one way ticket to mars
My! My! Time flies! A man underneath a tree, an apple falls on his head My my time flies a man wrote a symphony, it's 1812
My! My! Time flies! Four guys across abbey road, one forgot to wear shoes My! My! Time flies! A rap on a rhapsody, a king who's still in the news, a king to sing you the blues
My! My! Time flies! A man in a winter sleigh, white white white as the snow My! My! Time flies! A new day is on it's way, so let's let yesterday go Could be we step out again Could be tomorrow but then, Could be 2010
. . .to my (not-so) "little" brother, Scott, who graduated from high school this past Friday. You made it, bro. . .I'm so proud of you. . .
. . .of course, I should also extend the congratulations to my mother, who has now completed her homeschooling journey after spending the last 16 years teaching us. Thanks, Mom (and Dad!). . .we sure do appreciate all the time you've spent teaching us both for so many years. Y
