Soundtrack to Graduation: My Wish (Rascal Flatts)

Ever since I heard this song a couple of years ago, I've thought it was a great song and would be perfect at a graduation. Well, guess who gets to have this song played at her graduation (even though it is at the end when I will be out of the auditorium and won't get to hear it!)? Yep. . .me! :-) So, enjoy the next Graduation Soundtrack song, which is. . .

My Wish
Rascal Flatts

I hope the days come easy and the moments pass slow,
and each road leads you where you want to go,
and if you're faced with a choice, and you have to choose,
I hope you choose the one that means the most to you.
and if one door opens to another door closed,
I hope you keep on walkin' 'til you find the window,
if it's cold outside,
show the world the warmth of your smile,
but more than anything, more than anything,

My wish, for you, is that this life becomes all that you want it to,
your dreams stay big, your worries stay small,
You never need to carry more than you can hold,
and while you're out there getting where you're getting to,
I hope you know somebody loves you, and wants the same things too,
Yeah, this, is my wish.

I hope you never look back, but ya never forget,
all the ones who love you, in the place you left,
I hope you always forgive, and you never regret,
and you help somebody every chance you get,
Oh, you find God's grace, in every mistake,
and always give more then you take.

But more than anything, Yeah, and more than anything,

My wish, for you, is that this life becomes all that you want it to,
your dreams stay big, and your worries stay small,
You never need to carry more than you can hold,
and while you're out there getting where you're getting to,
I hope you know somebody loves you, and wants the same things too,
Yeah, this, is my wish.

My wish, for you, is that this life becomes all that you want it to,
your dreams stay big, your worries stay small,
You never need to carry more than you can hold,
and while you're out there getting where you're getting to,
I hope you know somebody loves you, and wants the same things too,
Yeah, this, is my wish.
this is my wish
I hope you know somebody loves you
may all your dreams stay big
(Repeat)
(Chorus)

Soundtrack to Graduation: Time of My Life (David Cook)

We're half-way through the Graduation Soundtrack 2009. I think the songs are kind of cool. :-) This next song is a newer song. . .in fact, it is sung by the winner of American Idol 2008, and while it was definitely fitting for a new American Idol winner, I think it is appropriate for a graduation song, as well. :-) The next song is. . .

Time of My Life

David Cook

I’ve been waiting for my dreams
To turn into something I could believe in
And looking for that
Magic rainbow
On the horizon I couldn’t see it
Until I let go
Gave into love and watched all the bitterness burn
Now I’m coming alive
Body and soul
And feelin’ my world start to turn

And I’ll taste every moment
And live it out loud
I know this is the time,
This is the time
To be more than a name
Or a face in the crowd
I know this is the time
This is the time of my life
Time of my life

Holding onto things that vanished
Into the air
Left me in pieces
But now I’m rising from the ashes
Finding my wings
And all that I needed
Was there all along
Within my reach
As close as the beat of my heart

and I’ll taste every moment
And live it out loud
I know this is the time,
This is the time to be
More than a name
Or a face in the crowd
I know this is the time
This is the time of my life
Time of my life

And I’m out on the edge of forever
Ready to run
I’m keeping my feet on the ground
Arms open wide
Face to the sun

I’ll taste every moment
And live it out loud
I know this is the time,
This is the time to be
More than a name
Or a face in the crowd
I know this is the time
This is the time of my life
Time of my life
More than a name
Or a face in the crowd
This is the time
This is the time of my life.
This is the time of my life.

Soundtrack to Graduation: Somewhere Over the Rainbow (Israel Kamakawiwo'ole)

Welcome to the third installment in the Graduation Soundtrack 2009! :-) This week's song is (and I apologize for the video with videos of random people's kids. . .but YouTube videos of this song are hard to come by). . .

Somewhere Over the Rainbow
Israel Kamakawiwo'ole

Ooooo oooooo ohoohohoo
Ooooo ohooohoo oooohoo
Ooooo ohoohooo oohoooo
Oohooo oohoooho ooooho
Ooooo oooooo oooooo
Ooooo oooooo oooooo

Somewhere over the rainbow
Way up high
And the dreams that you dreamed of
Once in a lullaby
Somewhere over the rainbow
Blue birds fly
And the dreams that you dreamed of
Dreams really do come true
Someday I'll wish upon a star
Wake up where the clouds are far behind me
Where trouble melts like lemon drops
High above the chimney tops that's where you'll find me oh
Somewhere over the rainbow bluebirds fly
And the dream that you dare to, why, oh why can't I?

Well I see trees of green and
Red roses too,
I'll watch them bloom for me and you
And I think to myself
What a wonderful world

Well I see skies of blue and I see clouds of white
And the brightness of day
I like the dark and I think to myself
What a wonderful world

The colors of the rainbow so pretty in the sky
Are also on the faces of people passing by
I see friends shaking hands
Saying, "How do you do?"
They're really saying, I... I love you
I hear babies cry and I watch them grow,
They'll learn much more
Than we'll know
And I think to myself
What a wonderful world

Someday I'll wish upon a star,
Wake up where the clouds are far behind me
Where trouble melts like lemon drops
High above the chimney top that's where you'll find me
Oh, Somewhere over the rainbow way up high
And the dream that you dare to, why, oh why can't I?

A Surreal Experience. . .

It's really a surreal experience. I knew this time would come, but I can hardly believe that it is here, now. Well, in 3 weeks, that is.

Yes, that's right. 3-weeks from tomorrow I should be walking across the stage in the Schuler Auditorium on the North Idaho College campus, thereby becoming a graduate of Lewis-Clark State College. And yes, it's hard for me to believe.

There's still a lot left to do over the next few weeks. The list includes (but is not limited to). . .
. . .Analyzing data for my research project (which analyzed the effects of advertising on online social networks such as Facebook and MySpace)
. . .Putting together a PowerPoint for when I present my project at the LCSC-Cd'A Senior Symposium on April 30
. . .Interviewing one of my friends for 45-60 minutes to learn about her values for my Values: Wilderness class
. . .Working on my portfolio/resume and making sure they are in tip-top shape
. . .Random short papers and discussion postings for my online Values: Wilderness class
. . .Random other things I have to wrap up

Yes, it's scary, but it's also exciting. 3-weeks from tomorrow should be an exciting day. . .and I can hardly wait! :)

Rascal Flatts - Things That Matter

Around Christmastime I said that I was going to use some of my Christmas money to buy some CDs. I bought Josh Turner's Everything is Fine and Carrie Underwood's Some Hearts right after Christmas. . .and I have been waiting ever since to get the third CD I wanted. :) See, right around that time I heard that Rascal Flatts was coming out with a new album in April. So, ever since Christmastime I have had money set aside and I have been waiting for today so I could buy that new album. Yes, Unstoppable came out today, and yes, I stopped by Target and bought it (because they had it on sale since it was a brand-new album).

I like Rascal Flatts because they not only usually have some fun songs on their albums. . .but they also usually have some songs that are really good lyrically. For example, My Wish is one of my favorite songs. And they have other good ones, like He Ain't The Leaving Kind. And there's more. . .

Of course I started listening to the new album tonight (although I have to wait until my mom comes home with the laptop to put it on my mp3 player), and while yes, there is a song or two I don't care for so much, one of the songs jumped out at me - especially the last verse. I think it's kind of cool, and I thought I'd share it with you. . .I really like the part that I put in purple. :)

Things That Matter
Rascal Flatts

Sometimes he lets that boss get in his head
He can’t see past that mountain of deadlines on his desk
5oclock he’s that last one out of the gate
And he gets cut off flipped off ticked off out on the interstate
And he wonders why this world won’t leave him alone
Till he hears that little voice holler “daddy’s home”
Things that matter
Things that don’t

She’s held on to that grudge all her life
Had thirty years of anger
Since her dad walked out that night
She thinks of all the moments that he's missed
All the birthdays ballets first dates
That seems too much to forget
She gets that call that said he don’t have long
She walks in
He starts crying
The past is gone
Things that matter
Things that don’t

Time ain’t on my side
Don’t want to leave this world
With why didn’t I?
Why didn’t I?
Yeah why didn’t I?

Sometimes I take on this world by myself
Thinking I got all the answers
Don’t need anybody’s help
Well God was right there waiting for me all along
To fall down on my knees surrender all

Things that matter
Things that don’t
Things that matter
Things that don’t

Soundtrack to Graduation: Whenever You Remember (Carrie Underwood)

Welcome to the next round of Graduation Soundtrack 2009! :-) The next song is a song by one of my current favorite artists, Carrie Underwood. The next song is. . .

Whenever You Remember
Carrie Underwood

When you look back on times we had
I hope you smile
And know that through the good and through the bad
I was on your side when nobody could hold us down
We claimed the brightest star
And we, we came so far
And no they won't forget

(Chorus)
Whenever you remember times gone by
Remember how we held our heads so high
When all this world was there for us
And we believe that we could touch the sky
Whenever you remember, I'll be there
Remember how we reached that dream together
Whenever you remember

When you think back on all we've done
I hope you're proud
When you look back and see how far we've come
It was our time to shine
And nobody could hold us down
They thought they'd see us fall
But we, we stood so tall
And no we won't forget

Whenever you remember times gone by
Remember how we held our heads so high
When all this world was there for us
And we believe that we could touch the sky
Whenever you remember, I'll be there
Remember how we reached that dream together
Whenever you remember

We claimed the brightest star
And we, we came so far
And know that we showed them all
And no they won't forget

Whenever you remember times gone by
Remember how we held our heads so high
When all this world was there for us
And we believe that we could touch the sky
Whenever you remember, I'll be there
Remember how we reached that dream together
Whenever you remember

Whenever you remember

Ooohh, whenever you remember

5. Whenever You Remember (Carrie Underwood)
6. My! My! Time Flies! (Enya)
